According to Mr. David Mwenga, General Manager for Europe & UK, The Harare based airline Air Zimbabwe is to operate its flight schedule tonight. Mr. Mwenga expressed with joy while speaking with a Travel House UK representative that the airline is happy and relieved to announce that the pilots strike has ended.
In its official announcement the carrier stated has declared that Flights number UM724 for 20 APR between Harare and London is flying today and Air Zimbabwe flight UM725 for 21Apr between London and Harare is to fly out at around 18:30 hours tomorrow.
The carrier asked its passengers to await more information and contact their agents or airline for rescheduling.
The airline has also proceeded by hiring Boeing 737-500 airplane from another airline as reported on Voice of America. According to initial reports the agreement includes operational staff services, together with the leased plane. This decision of Air Zimbabwe is largely commended internationally. As this will allow the strike-hit carrier in recovery in short term and will add some positive reputation to it as well.
