KLM’s strong presence in Africa

KLM is nowadays focusing hard on African air travel market. Where tourism is taking new dimensions and airline are increasing routes to Far East Asia and Americas, KLM is spreading its wings in African continent. The airline has recently increased its routes and also launched flights to four new destinations in Africa.
In this context, Air France (KLM Group) will be offering twice weekly flights to Bata in Equatorial Guinea. Although KLM is already offering flights to Tripoli, but in addition to that Air France will also be servicing cheap flights to Tripoli, Libya in summer 2011. Flights to Tripoli will be operated five times a week and passengers will be able to take flights to or from Paris with Air France. A second new addition, by the same airline is flights to Freetown, Sierra Leone operated twice weekly while Flights to Monrovia, Liberia will be operated thrice a week.
KLM is ‘the next big airline’ for Africa as the carrier also plans to offer cheap flights to Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro, Tanzania daily, during the winter period. While in summers, 2011 passengers will be able to book on daily flights to Tripoli with KLM. The airlines flights to Abuja, will be increased from three to four flights a week while flights to Entebbe will be raised to six departures and arrivals.
From December 13, 2010 Air France will serve five flights a week to Pointe Noire (Congo) and Libreville (Gabon) instead of four times once landing rights are authorized from Gabon Authorities.
The Air France-KLM group is not limited to each other’s services for veering the whole African continent, rather the airlines already have a strong partner in Africa “Kenya Airways” that offers direct flights to Nairobi from London Heathrow. The cooperation of KLM-Air France group with Kenya airways is vital to strengthen KLM’s presence in Africa and offering more extensive routes in Eastern Africa.
Kenya Airways operates from Nairobi and offers cheap flights to Harare, Ndola, Lilongwe, and Mombasa. Lusaka, Zanzibar and Bujumbura. With code share flights operating via Kenya Airways hub Nairobi, KLM-Air France group will be offering flights to central African destinations including Dzaoudzi and Moroni.
